Troubleshooting Basic Wireless Issues:
Check Account
Status
Service Interruption - Please go to the "My Account" link
and login to the billing system to ensure your account is in
good standing or call the
billing office.
Reset the
Wireless Modem
Find and reset the Motorola AC Adapter that powers our
wireless modem. This adapter always has "Motorola" printed
somewhere on it. It also has a green or amber light. Make
sure the light is on.
Reset your
router
Reset your router if you have one. Many times
lightning and small static charges will "lockup" electronics
like small routers and Ethernet switches.
Make sure your computer
has Ethernet link
(or your router)
Check this by going into your network connections and
look at the status. If it says "Network Cable unplugged" or
has a red "X" across it, you do not have a data link to our
modem or to your router. Check all cables. Try bypassing your router if one is
used and plug our equipment directly into your computer.
Reboot
Famous last words......reboot your computer
after resetting your router or our wireless modem. This does
in deed correct many problems when there is a small network
outage.
Test basic connectivity
Start - Run - Type the word "Command" - Click OK
At the DOS prompt, type the following:
ping
172.16.248.248
If you receive 4 replies, then you can reach our gateway.
If you get 4 timeouts then your computer is not
communicating with our network.
If you can ping our gateway
but cannot browse, your web browser might be fouled up. To
further prove this, you can follow the above directions but
this time type: ping 64.233.161.99
instead. This is "Google's" IP Address to one of
their web servers. If you can ping that, but cannot open website
in a browser,
you are more then likely a victim of spyware or a virus.
